About Me

Hi, I’m Savannah Garcia, a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist 153092 practicing under the supervision of Jennifer Bearden, LCSW 22781. I provide individual therapy to adults residing in California through telehealth. I work with individuals experiencing OCD, trauma, body image concerns, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Northridge in 2021 and my Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2024. My clinical experience includes working in substance use treatment and community mental health. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent two years as a Lead Behavioral Technician, working alongside therapists, psychiatrists, and psychologists to support adults ages 18–65 experiencing substance use concerns. In this role, I provided emotional support, case management services, and crisis intervention.

I have also provided individual and family therapy in a community mental health setting, supporting individuals experiencing a variety of mental health concerns.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is collaborative, warm, and relational. I believe therapy is a space where you should feel heard, understood, and supported. I strive to meet you where you are while helping you move toward the goals that matter most to you.

I draw from several evidence-based treatment modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am also trained/certified in Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Seeking Safety, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Managing and Adapting Practice.

My Connection to OCD

My passion for working with OCD is also personal. I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 19. At the time, I remember feeling as though something was fundamentally wrong with my brain. I went years without receiving treatment that adequately addressed my OCD until I learned about Exposure and Response Prevention.

Learning about ERP changed my understanding of OCD and, ultimately, changed the direction of my life and career. I know firsthand how frightening intrusive thoughts can feel and how difficult it can be to feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, avoidance, and compulsions. Most importantly, I learned that there is hope and that OCD is treatable.

My own experience inspired me to pursue formal training in ERP so that I can support others who are struggling with OCD. My goal is to create a space where you can feel understood without judgment while learning skills to respond differently to OCD and move toward a life that feels meaningful to you.
